Iran oil minister in Russia for GECF ministerial meeting

Iranian Oil Minister Rostam Qasemi has arrived in Moscow to take part in the ministerial meeting of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF) in the Russian capital.
Heading a high-ranking delegation, Qasemi arrived in Moscow on Friday to attend the meeting, which will be held on June 29 prior to the 2nd summit of the GECF.

The forum, scheduled to be held in Moscow on July 1-2, will be attended by Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.

National Iranian Oil Companys Director for International Affairs Seyyed Mohammad Ali Khatibi said ministers will discuss the summits final declaration and agenda on Saturday.

Earlier, Irans Embassy in Moscow said that the Iranian president will hold one-on-one meetings with President of the Russian Federation [Vladimir Putin] and some other senior officials attending the conference, in addition to delivering a speech at the summit.
The [2nd] summit of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum will be an opportunity to strengthen cooperation among member countries and exchange views at the highest level on the current and future situation of the gas market and gas industry, the statement read.
The Gas Exporting Countries Forum is an intergovernmental organization comprising 11 of the world's leading natural gas producers, including Algeria, Bolivia, Egypt, Equatorial Guinea, Iran, Libya, Nigeria, Qatar, Russia, Trinidad and Tobago and Venezuela.

The GECF was founded in 2001 in the Iranian capital, Tehran, and its members control over 70 percent of the world's natural gas reserves, 38 percent of the pipeline trade and 85 percent of the liquefied natural gas (LNG) production.

The three largest reserve-holders in the GECF - Russia, Iran and Qatar - together hold about 57 percent of global gas reserves.
