Iran urges EU to adopt right decision on JCPOA

IRNA Iranian vice president on Wednesday urged the European Union (EU) to adopt a right decision towards implementation of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).

The EU should give a positive response to Iran's demands regarding full implementation of the Iran's nuclear deal, Vice President of Iran for Women and Family Affairs Masoumeh Ebtekar said.

She made the remarks in a meeting with Dutch Ambassador to Tehran Jacques Werner.

The Netherlands should convince the EU to be bound to its obligations enshrined in the JCPOA, Ebtekar noted, adding that full implementation of the nuclear deal is very much important to Iran.

She said that Iran seeks peace and stability in the world, adding that Iran has been always a victim of extremism and terrorism.

The official pointed to the sanctions' effect on the common people in Iran, and said that sanctions prevent the empowerment of Iranian women.

Iran hosts millions of refugees, she said in a reference to potential effect of sanctions on refugees.

In the meantime, the Dutch ambassador to Iran, for his part, lauded the Iranian people's resistance against the US sanctions.

He also urged the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees to inform the world about Iranian nation's hospitality towards the Afghan refugees.

The envoy also called for exchange of information between Iran and the Netherlands in various fields, including water resources management as well as women empowerment.

Iran's President Hassan Rouhani said on last Wednesday that Iran will give a 60-day moratorium to the states parties to JCPOA to remedy their breaches and restore Iran's interests enshrined by the international deal.

May 8 marks the first anniversary of the US unilateral withdrawal from the Iran Deal formally known as the JCPOA endorsed by United Nations Security Council Resolution 2231.
