Tasnim Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif will start an official visit to Turkmenistan on Sunday in a bid to boost bilateral relations between the two neighboring countries in diverse political and economic areas.
Heading a high-ranking political and economic delegation, Zarif is slated to leave Tehran for Ashgabat later today to hold talks with senior officials of Turkmenistan.
The Iranian top diplomat and the Turkmen officials will discuss ways to expand bilateral relations in various fields, including political, trade, transportation, energy, and customs, as well as regional and global developments.
Back in late January, Irans Deputy Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi and his Turkmen counterpart Wafa Khadzhiev held a round of political talks in the Iranian capital of Tehran.
The two sides explored joint solutions and plans to develop political and economic collaborations.
The two sides also stressed their will to maintain the current cooperation, and called for efforts to create new capacities in bilateral relations, particularly in the fields of energy and transit.
Araqchi and Khadzhiev also reached an agreement on updating the road map of expanding bilateral relations considering new developments.
