IRNA - Head of the National Wisdom Movement of Iraq Seyyed Ammar Hakim called for Baghdads mediatory role between Tehran and Washington to prevent what he called outbreak of war in the region.
Addressing a ceremony marking 10th death anniversary of Seyyed Abdelaziz Hakim on Friday, he added, We are aware of consequences of the confrontation between Iran and the US over Iraq, as it is located at the heart of the region.
Prime Minister Adel Abdul Mahdis administration should act to play its part to diminish tension between the two sides, as it will adversely affect Iraq.
Stressing the need for Iraq to reach the level of advanced political and economic countries and play an effective role in the region, Hakim said that Iraq is located at the heart of the region and should play a basic role in its stability, as it will be greatly impacted by the regional situation.
