Envoy: Time to prove Iran's view on regional crisis

IRNA - Deputy Foreign Minister Gholamhossein Dehghani said that Iran from theearly stages of escalation of crisis in the region believed that there will be no military solution to such crisis as passage of time proved this reality.

Dehghani made the remarks in a meeting with UN Under-Secretary-General for Political and Peace-building Affairs Rosemary A. DiCarlo in New York on Tuesday.

In the meeting, both sides exchanged views on regional developments and the need to continue joint efforts to resolve the regional crisis.

They reviewed various issues such as ongoing developments in Syria and Yemen and the report issued by the UN secretary general on implementation of UN resolution 2231 on security affairs.

Iran's envoy asked the UN to take a much active role in dealing with regional developments and preventing exacerbation of crisis and its consequences on peace and security of the region.

UN under-secretary-general for political and peace-building affairs, for her part, called Iran to play much active role in resolving existing crises in Bahrain.

Iran played active role in resolving political disputes in Bahrain and the country's foreign minister has proposed to resolve crisis and disputes through a defined peace plan.

They agreed to continue their roles at international levels to help resolve regional crisis.

The third preliminary UN international conference on revising 'NPT' which has already been kicked off in the UN headquarters in New York will be continued till May 9.
