Zarif urges developing Tehran-Doha ties

IRNA Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif in a letter stressed boosting bilateral relations between Iran and Qatar.

As per the Qatari newspaper 'Al Raya', in his letter to Qatar Foreign Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, Zarif highlighted issues of mutual interests in the region and the world as well.

Earlier on December 2018, Iranian foreign minister delivered speech in Qatar international security meeting.

Iran and Qatar, each of which now targeted by few regional countries, have stood against over-ambitions of some countries by taking logical, principled relations which are based on international rules and have developed bilateral relations and coordinated their policies regarding some regional issues.

On June 5, 2017 some Arab countries led by Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and the UAE officially severed ties with Qatar and closed air, road and sea lines with the country to put it under political and economic blockade.

Earlier, Qatari Prime Minister Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani in a meeting with Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani described Iran's assistance to Qatar as an important factor for defeated those who imposed sanctions on the country.

The 139th IPU General Assembly announced at its closing session in Geneva in October last year that it will hold its 140th session and its related meetings in Qatar on April 6-10, 2019.
