Head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) Fereydoun Abbasi has arrived in Russia to participate in the International Ministerial Conference on Nuclear Power in the 21st Century.
Heading a high-ranking Iranian delegation, Abbasi arrived in the Russian city of Saint-Petersburg on Monday to attend the conference, which will be held on June 27-29.
The Ministerial Conference on Nuclear Power in the 21st Century is organized by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in cooperation with the Nuclear Energy Agency of the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development.
The conference, which convenes every four years, will discuss a wide range of issues, including nuclear powers contribution to sustainable development, nuclear safety and reliability and also the prospects of nuclear power for the future.
Abbasi is scheduled to meet with Russian officials and other participants during the event.
The Iranian official will also participate in the fifth International Industrial Forum ATOMEXPO, which is due to begin on the eve of the nuclear conference on June 26.
The Islamic Republic of Iran will showcase its nuclear energy achievements for the first time in the ATOMEXPO, which is organized by Russias State Atomic Energy Corporation, ROSATOM, and attended by leading international organizations and companies of the nuclear industry.
More than 4,000 delegates from 53 world countries attended ATOMEXPO 2012.
