FNA - The Iranian defense ministry in a statement on Wednesday underlined that the Army forces, along with the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC), are prepared to defend the causes of the Islamic Revolution in any part of the world.

"Today the Army, along with the powerful IRGC and other forces, is ready to be present in the battlefield and safeguard the valuable causes of the Islamic Revolution in any part of the world," the statement said on the occasion of the Army Day in Iran on April 18.

It added that under the command of Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei and with reliance on indigenized defense industry, the Army and other Iranian Armed Forces are all ready to confront possible threats against the Islamic Republic of Iran and make it impossible for enemies to conduct military aggression against Iran.

The statement was issued one day before the Army Day parades in Iran.

Iranian Army Airborne Force's Deputy Commander General Hamid Vahedi announced on Tuesday the country's plan to fly two home-made warplanes during the military parades on the Army Day.

"The Army Day parades this year have a big difference with the parades held in the past years as indigenized bomber fighters, namely Saeqeh and Kosar, will take part in the parades," General Vahedi told reporters in Tehran.

He added that the home-made fighter jets would carry out high-quality maneuvers this year to display Iran's technological advancement in denial of the US sanctions.

"Saeqeh, Kosar, Mig 29, F4 and F14 fighters as well as 747 and 707 refueling planes will fly during April 18 parades from bases in Tabriz, Mehrabad (Tehran), Hamedan and Isfahan," General Vahedi said.

In recent years, Iran has made great achievements in the defense sector and gained self-sufficiency in essential military hardware and defense systems.

The country has repeatedly made it clear that its military might is merely based on the state's defense doctrine of deterrence and that it poses no threat to other countries.

In February 2015, Iran unveiled a new home-made combat fighter, named Saeqeh 2 (Thunderbolt 2), which can also be used for training purposes.

"The double-cockpit supersonic fighter jet, which has been designed and built by the defense ministry's aerospace industries organization in cooperation with the Islamic Republic of Iran's Air Force, can be used for combat missions, close-range cover and backup in tactical missions, and also advanced pilot training programs," General Hatami, the then deputy defense minister, said at the time, addressing the unveiling ceremony.

He said the aircraft had been built on the basis of a new design which had maximized its combat power, adding that the plane had also been equipped with advanced electro-avionics and weapons systems to train pilots for flying with the existing or new heavy fighters.

Also last September, Iran unveiled Kosar jet fighter, which is equipped with avionics (aviation electronics) and fire-control systems.

Kosar was unveiled in a ceremony participated by Iranian President Hassan Rouhani in Tehran who ordered the fighter jet to fly.

The new fighter jet uses the fourth generation of military digital network and is equipped with heads-up display (HUD) system to increase the precision-striking power of weapons, advanced and multi-purpose radar for fire-control to boost the precision to trace the targets and threats and high-precision navigation system.

Kosar can be manufactured in two types of single-cockpits and double-cockpits and the second type can be used for training pilots in addition to enjoying combat capabilities.

According to the Iranian officials, the fighter jet is a supersonic combat plane different from the training Kosar 88 plane unveiled in April 2017.
