Intelligence minister: US allies asking Iran for negotiations

Tasnim Irans Intelligence Minister Mahmoud Alawi said the failure of the US administrations policy of sanctions against the Islamic Republic has made Washingtons allies offer to enter talks with Tehran.

The US allies have secretly proposed holding talks with Iran, Alawi told reporters in the southern province of Bushehr on Friday.

When the US allies found out that (US President Donald) Trump could not do anything (against Iran) despite all the hullabaloo, they made secret proposals for negotiations (with Iran), he added.

Denouncing the US presidents unwise move to blacklist the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC), the intelligence minister said Trump received a slap in the face from the Iranian nation when all of the people expressed solidarity with the IRGC.

He also stressed that the US measure against the IRGC strengthened the unity of the Iranian Armed Forces.

Trump announced on Monday that Washington designates the IRGC a foreign terrorist organization, marking the first time the US has formally labelled another country's military a terrorist group.

Responding to the move, Irans Supreme National Security Council immediately declared the US as a state sponsor of terrorism and US forces in the region terrorists.

The SNSC said it has put CENTCOM on its terror list as a reciprocal measure against the US illegal and unwise move.

In a letter to the UN chief, Irans Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif cautioned that the US and a number of puppet regimes will be held accountable for the dire consequences of the adventurous move to blacklist the IRGC.
