Lebanon speaker offers condolences to Iran flood victims

IRNA Lebanese parliament speaker on Saturday extended condolences to the bereaved families of the flood victims in Iran.

In a message to his Iranian counterpart Ali Larijani, Nabih Berri lauded the Iraniand, in particular the country's armed forces' help for the flood victims.

The Lebanese parliament speaker, meantime, regretted the re-imposition of sanctions against Iran which has prevented dispatch of humanitarian aids to the flood-hit regions.

Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani on Saturday strongly criticized the United States for hindering relief aid from the International Red Cross to Iran's Red Crescent Society.

Larijani said the Red Cross was created to assist in areas that are in trouble, but Americans prevented this organization to contribute with the Iranian government and falsely declared in a statement that they are ready to help Iran.

Some 70 people have been killed in 13 Iranian provinces either in the recent floods in the country or in accidents connected to the floods, according to the head of Irans Coroners Office.
