US and its propaganda war to complete economic terrorism

IRNA - American officials are struggling to increase the severity of their propaganda war against Tehran in the face of accusations of economic terrorism and the relief from the overwhelming pressure in the relief efforts for flood-hit Iranian.

April 1 announcement of some foreign media on the new round of anti-Iran sanctions by the government of Donald Trump coincided with comments by Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif on disruption by Americans in the process of relief efforts to flood-affected people.

Recently, the Reuters news agency quoted a senior Trump government official as saying that the White House is trying to target parts of the Iranian economy by a set of sanctions.

It said that most likely this would be on the anniversary of the US withdrawal of Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) on May 8th.

The sanction threats by President Trump and his entourage at the White House, as well as the diplomatic statements and diplomatic trips of US officials to exert double pressure on the Islamic Republic of Iran, come in a situation where an important part of the Iranian government's attention is currently focused on addressing the flood crisis in vast areas of the country and relief to the flood victims, and also from now on the compensation will be an important agenda for the government.

In response to the situation, Iran's foreign minister has repeatedly considered the US 'maximum pressure policy' on Iran in violation of international norms and laws, saying that US sanctions has disrupted Iran's Red Crescent aid to all areas affected by an unprecedented flood.

Zarif pointed out, for example, that the presence of aid relief helicopters in the blacklist of US sanctions, stating that 'this is not just an economic war; it is an economic terrorism'.

On the contrary, the Americans tried to get rid of the burden of economic terrorism. In one of the first reactions, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo tried to show sympathy with the flood victims, but he considered the damages and casualties in these incidents as sign of the ineffectiveness of Iranian authorities to cover some of the implications of the sanctions under this claim.

In a statement, he claimed that Washington is ready to assist and cooperate with the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies in order to transfer funds from the Iranian Red Crescent to affected people.

Also, on April 3, deputy spokesman for the United States Department of State, Robert Palladino, in a news conference, expressed regret over the Iranians plight and, and in response to a journalist's question about sanctions impeding aid to flood survivors, claimed that the United States in all sanctions have exempted food, medicine and medical items.

These positions by the US authorities have pushed Iran's foreign minister to disclose the hypocrisy and disinformation of foreign policy officials of Trump Administration.

In a tweet, Zarif called Pompeos allegations as fake news and wrote, 'According to the head of the International Committee of the Red Cross, the Red Crescent Society of Iran cannot receive any financial resources due to illegal US sanctions.' He reiterated that the United States should accept responsibility for its economic terrorism.

One of the main lines of Washington's approach toward the Islamic Republic of Iran, based on the positions and statements of US officials and its propaganda system, can be seen in the context of effects of American sanctions on Iranian citizens, especially during floods and devastation the nation is facing in parts of the country.

It also seems that the Trump government intends to use all means at its disposal until the end of his term of presidency to compel Tehran to compromise. In this way, in order to advance the economic war and resort to economic terrorism, Washington officials say the conditions are tightening for Iran.

Recently, Brian Hook, the US State Department's special envoy on Iran's affairs in an interview with an Egyptian television channel, has filed claims about the presence and activities of the Islamic Republic of Iran in various parts of the Middle East from Iraq, Syria and Lebanon to Bahrain and Yemen, and the Strait of Hormuz, and spoke about his country's efforts to push back Iran in the region, saying the US government is trying to tighten the sanctions and end Iran's energy purchasing exemption.

In this context, it can be said that the United States is using its full potential in the political, diplomatic, economic, and promotional fields, in order to fulfill its objectives in Iran's surrender project; the failure of which has led Washington to use the variety of tools from economic terrorism to protect the terrorists and enemies of the Iranian people.
