IRNA - UN Resident Coordinator in Iran promised continuation of giving aids to Iranian government on recent floods in Iranian provinces.


'The #UN Team in #Iran is closely monitoring the situation and working with the Government of Iran to provide necessary support,' Ugochi Daniels wrote on her Twitter account.

She added 'The UN�s role is to support the Government of #Iran and that is what we have been doing from the start of this unfortunate #disaster. Some relief items have been supplied and we will continue to do so. Stay tuned for more information.'

Earlier, Chef de Cabinet to United Nations Secretary General Maria Luiza Ribeiro Viotti conveyed sympathy and solidarity of the UN chief Ant�nio Guterres over recent floods in Iran, stressing that humanitarian aids should be excluded from sanctions.

Viotti underlined UN readiness to cooperate with Iran in rendering aids to the flood-hit areas in the country.

Meanwhile, Al Habib appreciated UN official�s message, noting that Iranian people and government have made all their attempts to stand against this natural disaster.

Undoubtedly, Iranian welcomes any international aids and cooperation, he added.

Unprecedented heavy rains caused floods in various parts of Iran over the past two weeks. Scores of people were killed and injured and a large number were displaced across Iran.
