Irans Deputy Oil Minister Alireza Zeighami says the country has started distributing Euro-4 premium gasoline, which meets European fuel quality standards, in a number of major cities.
Zeighami said in a televised interview on Thursday that the distribution of the product has started in cities such as Tehran, Karaj, Ahwaz and Arak.
According to the Iranian official, Iran has started distributing premium gasoline and diesel at 20 and 70 gas stations respectively across the capital Tehran.
With the inauguration of four new gasoline production projects, the distribution of Euro-4 premium gas will start in other major cities like Shiraz, Bandar Abbas, Esfahan and Mashhad as well, he added.
Zarghami, who is also the managing director of the National Iranian Oil Refining and Distribution Company, said the Euro-4 gasoline production capacity will rise to 50 million liters per day during the current Iranian year (ending March 20, 2014).
He also said that Iran plans to produce a total amount of 40 million liters of Euro-4 and Euro-5 diesel over the same period.
