Irans top general urges vigilance in face of new threats

Tasnim Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces called for constant vigilance to deal with modern and diversified threats posed by the enemies.

We are facing new and diverse threats, because Islamic Iran does not tolerate the bullying behavior of arrogant countries, and its message is independence, Major General Mohammad Hossein Baqeri said in a commencement of cadets in Tehran on Tuesday.

Iran is dealing with asymmetrical threats from the big powers, with proportional threats from their proxies, and with proxy wars and measures creating insecurity by terrorist groups, he warned.

Highlighting the Islamic Republics push for perfect relations with neighbors, Major General Baqeri said Iran has managed to provide security for its people in a region with the highest level of insecurity.

In comments in January, the top commander said Iran has been facing military threats over the past years, but the countrys effectual defensive deterrence and the enemys fear of the heavy casualties, damages and costs in a war against Iran have prevented a military skirmish.

In remarks in August 2018, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani warned the enemies of the heavy costs of any military action against the country, saying the existing unity among the Iranian people, Leadership and the Armed Forces has made the Islamic Republic unbeatable.
