FNA - Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Qassemi offered sympathy to the Zimbabwean people and government after a mining incident claimed the lives of scores of people in the African country.

Qassemi expressed his deep regret, and sympathized with the bereaved families of the victims of the miners, Zimbabwean government and people over the sad incident in Battlefields Mine.

According to Western media, the accident with about 70 miners involved happened on Tuesday night.

'Battlefields' is a small settlement in Mashonaland West province in Zimbabwe. It is located off the main road from Harare to Bulawayo between Kadoma and Kwekwe.
