Iran says waiting for EU practical action

IRNA Iranian deputy foreign minister said on Wednesday that Tehran expects the European Union to take practical actions in support of Iranian nuclear deal.

The Iranian nuclear deal, known also as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) is in danger because of the US policies, Abbas Araqchi said.

He made the remarks in a meeting with the Bulgarian member of the European Parliament Angel Chavdarov Dzhambazki.

Iran is thankful of the EU political statements in support of the nuclear deal, but Tehran expects practical actions, Araqchi said.

He noted that according to the IAEA reports, Iran has been committed to its obligations enshrined in the nuclear deal.

In the meantime, the Bulgarian official, for his part, underlined the EU support for the JCPOA.

He said that supporting the JCPOA is in the interest of the European countries.

Following the departure of the United States from the JCPOA, the European Union is completing a special financial mechanism that facilitates the exchange of Iranian finance exchange with European and global companies without being hurt by US sanctions.

A spokeswoman for the European Union told IRNA earlier that the launch of this mechanism is in an advanced stage and we hope to announce the very soon'.

Meanwhile, French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian said Wednesday that he hoped the EU's Special Purpose Vehicle to facilitate trade with Iran would be operational in the coming days.

Reportedly, this mechanism is due to be registered in France and its head is a German. Britain will also be its shareholders.
