IRNA- Director of the projects of the National Iranian Petrochemical Company said that the construction of a large petro-refinery complex began in the Jask region (Oman Sea Coast).
Iran intends to boost its power of maneuver in the energy market, in addition to reducing its dependence on the Strait of Hormuz with the development of the Jask region on the coast of Oman Sea.
The distance between the Jask region and the world markets is 1,000 kilometers less than Assalouyeh region, which plays an important role in reducing exports costs.
Accordingly, the construction of a large oil terminal in Jask and the establishment of a petro-refinery (petrochemical-refinery) is on the agenda.
Ali Mohammad Basaqzadeh said on Sunday that in order to meet the needs of the country as well as the growth of exports, construction of a large petrochemical complex in Jask has begun.
The official reiterated, Due to the presence of crude oil feeds in the complex, gasoline, gas oil, air pane fuel, sulfur, as well as products such as butadiene, polyethylene and propylene products, and 'Monoethylene glycol' and several petrochemical products will be produced.
He emphasized that the complex will be built in partnership with well-known companies and the construction of this new complex will lead to the transformation of this important and strategic area.
Jask oil terminal is the second largest oil export terminal in Iran, IRNA reported.
