Kidnapped Iranian border guards safe and sound

IRNA Commander of the Islamic Republic of Iran Border Guard Command Brigadier General Qasem Rezaei says the Iranian border guards, kidnapped on Iran-Pakistan border recently, are safe and sound.

Rezaei told a group of provincial border guard commanders on Thursday that the abducted border guards are safe, but the main concern for Iran is their release. 'No response has yet been received in that connection from the terrorist groups.'

He said since the border guards were kidnapped on Pakistan soil, Islamabad has vowed to secure speedy release of the group.

He criticized Pakistani side for poor management of Balochestan region, where criminals and those prosecuted by Iranian judiciary system reside and serve as a mercenary.

He added that to this end, Pakistani government strives for improving its management power.

'The terrorist groups' move is not becoming of nations of the two countries and the governments.'

Fourteen Iranian Basij (volunteer forces) and border guard forces were abducted by terrorists in Iran's Sistan-Baluchestan border with Pakistan on October 15. Five of them were later released through the efforts of the Pakistani government on November 15.
