Iran, Iraqi Kurdistan businessmen meet in Erbil
IRNA The economic meeting of Iran and Iraqi Kurdistan Region (KRG) kicked off in Erbil on Tuesday with the attendance of Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif.

Addressing the meeting, deputy chairman of Iran-Iraq Chamber of Commerce Mohammad Reza Karbasi referred to the problems on the way toward developing economic ties with Iran and Iraqi Kurdistan Region, saying Iranian government is determined to remove obstacles by promoting banking ties and by providing transportation facilities.

'Continuation of economic meetings between private sectors will make both sides take advantage of potentials to enhance relations,' Karbasi said.

Meanwhile, Nawzad Hadi Mawlood, Governor General of Erbil, said Iranian delegation's trip to Iraqi Kurdistan Region indicates the importance of historical relations between Iran, Iraq and especially Iraqi Kurdistan.

The Iraqi Kurdistan Region tends to develop relations in political and economic fields, Mawlood said, adding that to facilitate this, KRG will provide businessmen with special services.

Arrived in Baghdad on January 13, the Iranian foreign minister has so far visited a number of Iraqi officials, including Prime Minister Adil Abdul-Mahdi, President Barham Salih, Speaker of the Council of Representatives of Iraq Mohamed al-Halbousi, Head of the National Wisdom Movement of Iraq Ammar Hakim, Iraqi member of Parliament Hadi Al-Amiri and heads and members of Iraqi religious, political, cultural, ethnical and social bodies.

Zarif will leave Erbil for Sulaymaniyah, another main city in the Kurdish-dominated area, on Tuesday.
