Bloomberg | Golnar Motevalli: A construction group owned by Irans Revolutionary Guards will develop 250 kilometers (155 miles) of metro rail in cities across Iran.
The chief of the Guards Khatam al-Anbia Construction Headquarters unit, Saeed Mohammad, announced the plan Saturday at the launch of one section of the project -- a 4.5 trillion rial line linking southern Tehran and its outskirts to the citys center, according to a statement on the companys website.
The broader plan will include the construction of 150 stations, the statement on www.khatam.com said; no price tag was given for the entire project.
Khatam al-Anbia said in May 2018 that it would start work on projects worth $28 billion in the year ending March 2019, state-run Islamic Republic News Agency reported at the time.
Khatam al-Anbia is subject to U.S. and European Union sanctions because it is a subsidiary of the Revolutionary Guards.
