IRNA - Iranian President Hassan Rouhani called the progress in the military field as positive while emphasizing Tehran's determination to boost its defensive capabilities.

'The Defense Minister has rendered a very good report on progress in medium-range, long-range, air-to-air and sea-to-sea missiles as well as UAVs with great work in these fields,' President Rouhani said.

'One of the important goals of previous and current governments is to strengthen the defensive power, and all the figures show that the government has been forerunner in comparison to the previous governments,' Rouhani said, noting that 'we have no doubt in the strengthening and enhancement of our country's own defense capabilities'.

The president called for the full enjoyment of opportunities on the country's path to development, but also emphasized. 'Using opportunities does not mean, of course, that we pin our hopes on others.'

�We should take advantage of all opportunities and there is good progress in this regard,� Rouhani noted.
