Heads of Iran government branches congratulate Rohani

The heads of the legislative and judicial branches of Irans government have congratulated President-elect Hassan Rohani on his victory in the countrys 11th presidential election.
In a messages issued on Sunday, Irans Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani said the greatness and magnificence of the June 14 election would be a valuable support for improving the country situation, particularly for resolving problems such as unemployment and high prices.

Larijani said Majlis would cooperate with the president-elect and his future cabinet to improve the affairs of the country.

Judiciary Chief Ayatollah Sadeq Amoli Larijani also congratulated Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, the Iranian nation and the president-elect on the massive turnout in Iran's 11th presidential election.

Head of Irans Supreme Board of Arbitration Ayatollah Mahmoud Hashemi Shahroudi and Chairman of the Iranian Assembly of Experts Ayatollah Mohammad-Reza Mahdavi Kani also congratulated Rohani on Sunday.

Irans incumbent president, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, felicitated Rohani on his victory on Saturday after Iranian Interior Minister Mostafa Mohammad-Najjar announced his victory in the election.

Mohammad-Najjar said that, of a total of 36,704,156 ballots counted, Rohani has won 50.70 percent, a decisive 18,613,329 votes.

In a message on Saturday, Ayatollah Khamenei also expressed his gratitude to the Iranian people for their massive turnout in the elections, congratulating Rohani on his victory in the presidential race.

Nearly 50.5 million Iranians, including more than 1.6 million first-time voters, were eligible to participate in the June 14 elections. The Interior Ministry put the voter turnout at 72.7 percent.

Rohani currently represents the Leader in the Supreme National Security Council, and is a member of the Expediency Council and the Assembly of Experts. He is also director of the Expediency Council's Center for Strategic Research.
