Tasnim Irans Intelligence Minister Mahmoud Alawi blamed the enemies for a recent deadly terrorist attack in the countrys southeastern port city of Chabahar and said they sought to hit the countrys economy by targeting the transit hub.
In a speech in the northern province of Alborz on Tuesday, Alawi pointed to the terror attack in Chabahar, which killed and injured more than 40 people, and said the enemy acted with the aim of hitting the areas economy.
He further referred to the countrys campaign on terrorism and said over the past 5 years, a large number of terrorist acts have been foiled by the countrys intelligence forces.
On Thursday, a vehicle laden with explosives went off close to a police headquarters in Chabahar, situated in the southeastern province of Sistan and Baluchestan.
The terrorist behind the wheel was seeking to force his way into the police post, but failed to do so as local security forces quickly intervened.
Two police officers lost their lives and 42 other people sustained injuries in the explosion, which also killed the bomber.
The so-called Ansar al-Furqan terrorist group later claimed responsibility for the assault.
