IRNA The new domestically-made Fateh submarine will be dispatched for missions to the Sea of Oman as it is going to join the Iranian Navy in the near future, according to Deputy Navy Commander for Coordination Rear Admiral Hamzeh Ali Kaviani.
In an exclusive interview with the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) correspondent, Kaviani said that Fateh submarine is carrying out the final stages of joining the Iranian naval fleet.
He expressed the hope that the submarine will join the Iranian Navy by the yearend.
Fateh is the first home-made semi-heavy submarine of the country, the official said.
Asked to comment on the missile launching capability of the submarine, he said that some measures have been carried out in this regard which will be publicized soon.
He said that all the technologies installed on this highly advanced submarine are domestically-made and indigenous.
