MNA � The Qatari emir and the Sultan of Oman will not join Persian Gulf summit to be held in Saudi Arabia today.







Qatari Emir Tamim Bin Hamad al-Thani will not be in the 39th Persian Gulf Cooperation Council (PGCC) summit in Saudi Arabia and only state ministers will represent Qatar in this meeting, an official, who asked not to be named, told Anadolu Agency late Saturday.

Qatar News Agency (QNA) said in a story that an official invitation was sent to al-Thani by Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz for this summit.

The invitation was presented to Sultan Bin Saad Al-Muraikhi, Qatar's State Minister for Foreign Affairs.

A six-nation bloc of oil-rich Persian Gulf Arab states, the PGCC is composed of Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, Oman, Bahrain and Qatar.

In June of last year, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, the UAE and Bahrain collectively severed ties with Doha, accusing it of supporting terrorism.

The Saudi-led axis has also imposed an air, land and sea embargo on Qatar.

Reportedly, the Sultan of Oman will not attend the conference.

According to Times of Oman, Sayyid Fahd bin Mahmoud Al Said, Oman�s Deputy Prime Minister for Cabinet Affairs will represent the Sultanate at the summit, on behalf of Sultan Qaboos bin Said.

He will be accompanied by a high-ranking delegation comprising the Arab country�s minister of foreign affairs, minister of commerce and industry, and minister of legal affairs.
