Press TV - The Iranian Navy has launched a domestically-built destroyer in the southern port city of Bandar Abbas.
The advanced ship, nicknamed Sahand, joined the Iranian naval fleet in the Persian Gulf at a ceremony attended by the top military brass including Iran's Army Commander, Major general Abdolrahim Mousavi.
The vessel is equipped with advanced missile systems and can fire various types of torpedoes. It also has electronic warfare capabilities and has a flight deck for helicopters.
The destroyer can undertake long-distance missions and is able to remain at high seas for more than two months.
The Iranian Navy also launched two indigenous submarines earlier this week.
