Larijani: Syrian case good example for settlement of Asian problems

IRNA Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani said on Thursday that cooperation among Iran, Syria, Russia and Turkey in solving regional problems is a good model for solving problems facing Asian states.


Larijani, who is currently in Istanbul to take part in the 11th meeting of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly (APA), told reporters that the model can also be used in the regional economic, security and political issues.

He also hailed the four countries achievements due to cooperation on regional developments.

As to the APA summit in Istanbul, he said that the main founder of the summit was Iran and different countries joining it gradually, as currently, most of the Asian parliaments are members of the bloc.

Noting that Asia is a significant issue for future, he contended that it boasts of numerous assets, including rich energy sources, diverse natural facilities and strong manpower.

He announced plans to hold the Asian Parliamentary Assembly in Iran next year.

The assembly of Iran, China, Turkey, Turkey, Russia, Afghanistan and Pakistan parliaments will be held in Iran in near future, he said, noting that terrorism in the region and cooperation to counter regional insecurities, fighting drugs and economic cooperation will be discussed during the event.

The 11th APA meeting attended by 23 Asian countries started work on Thursday and will be underway for three days.

The Asian Parliamentary Assembly (APA) was born in 2006 at the Seventh Session of the Association of Asian Parliamentary for Peace (AAPP). In other words, the APA is continuation of an organization which was established in 1999.
