SHANA - Iranian Minister of Petroleum Bijan Zangeneh said there were no plans for rationing petrol in the country.
The remarks came as there are rumors about rationing petrol in a bid to tackle smuggling of the strategic item to neighboring countries where the price of petrol is several times highest than that in Iran.
Speaking to reporters following a cabinet meeting on Wednesday, the official said the price of oil in the world market was a function of supply and demand, adding, however, interference of certain countries are aimed at glutting the market and harming Iran which should not be overlooked.
The official also refused to comment on US oil sanctions on Tehran, saying, I do not comment on oil sanctions because the US would misuse it.
