SHANA - The National Iranian Drilling Company (NIDC) carried out 126,899 meters of drilling operations in the first 8 months of the current calendar year, which began on March 21.

According to NIDC, a senior official at the company, Mohammad Ale-Khamis said 126,899 meters of oil and gas wells were spudded during the period in onshore and offshore fields.

He said 98 wells were either drilled or repaired during the period.

The official added that of these wells 44 were development and 54 wells were workover wells, 67 of which were drilled in the operational scope of the National Iranian South Oil Company and two others were drilled by the Iranian Central Oil Fields Company.

Furthermore, 73 drilling rigs belonging to NIDC were operated during the period. 70 rigs in land fields and three others were exploited for offshore projects.
