IRNA - Former Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki described the conditions of Rohingya Muslims in Myanmar as critical and concerning.


Many Muslims in Rohingya have been annoyed and some of them were forced to move to Bangladesh, Mottaki said addressing a commission held on the sidelines of the 32nd International Islamic Unity Conference that opened in Tehran on Saturday.

The commission is aimed to address Muslims� problems, he said, adding that it consists of foreign ministers of Jordan, Syria, Iraq and Mauritania.

He also referred to a meeting held with the attendance of the Secretary-General of the World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought (WFPIST) Ayatollah Mohsen Araki to discuss problems of Rohingya Muslims and also relocation of the US embassy from Tel-Aviv to Holy Quds.

We also sent a letter to Turkey requesting the commission members to travel to Turkey to review the problems of Rohingya Muslims and they accepted it, he added.

In a meeting with former Bangladesh foreign minister, he expressed regret over Muslims� conditions, Mottaki said.

He urged the Islamic countries to be more active in helping Rohingya Muslims.
