IRNA Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said on Monday that the Islamic Republic of Iran is ready to cooperate with the UN in all fields in Afghanistan and is to back peace initiatives in the country.
Zarif made the remarks in a meeting with UN Secretary-General's Special Representative for Afghanistan Tadamichi Yamamoto in Tehran on Monday.
Iran calls for restoration of stability, security in Afghanistan, Zaraif said, adding that Tehran is ready to cooperate with UN in all fields in Afghanistan while fully back peace initiatives in the war-torn country.
The UN envoy, for his part, appreciated the supports made by the Islamic Republic of Iran for restoration of peace and stability in Afghanistan and called for continued constructive role and presence of Iran in the upcoming Geneva conference on Afghanistan.
Geneva conference on Afghanistan will be jointly hosted by Afghan government and United Nations, he said.
