MNA Iran Army Operations Deputy Officer reassured on Mon. that Iranian trade vessels and oil tankers on international waters will be protected against US threats.
Speaking to reporters on Monday about Iranian oil tankers coming under US threats while sailing on international waters, Iran Army Operations Deputy Officer, Rear Admiral Seyyed Mahmoud Mousavi, said that causing any hindrance to trade and transport through international waterways is against the law, adding that such measures are inappropriate and unacceptable.
He stressed that Iranian Armed Forces are fully equipped and well-prepared to safeguard their interests in various arenas.
In the past 40 years, Iran has proved that it can carry on with its marine trade despite threats, said Admiral Mousavi, adding the Iranian Armed Forces are ready to continue their protection of the countrys trade vessels and oil tankers according to the orders received through thechain of command.
He stressed that the Armed Forces would make every effort to facilitate Irans access to sea routes for trade.
The admiral's remarks came as the United States has issued a warning to foreign countries against allowing Iranian oil tankers into their territorial waters or ports, threatening them with punitive measures under the anti-Iran sanctions.
