Nikki Haley resigns from UN post

IRNA - The United States Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley resigned on Tuesday, and the US President Donald Trump accepted her resignation.

It is unclear whether Trump government has forced her to resign or not?

According to media reports, Trump accepted Haley's resignation. Nikki Haley is one of the anti-Iranian figures of the United States government, and she has always taken strong stance against Iran.

Trump had been present at the United Nations General Assembly early October and chaired a meeting at the UN Security Council, part of which was dedicated to the issue of Iran. Representatives from participating countries at the Security Council discussed critical remarks on the claims of Trump on Iran's nuclear deal.

Some analysts described the meeting as representing America's isolation in the world.

A senior State Department official said Haley told her staff this morning.

As CNN reported a source familiar with the matter said Haley's resignation caught national security adviser John Bolton and Secretary of State Mike Pompeo by surprise.

Teasing an announcement in the Oval Office this morning, Trump called Haley 'my friend.'

'Big announcement with my friend Ambassador Nikki Haley in the Oval Office at 10:30am,' he tweeted.

The former South Carolina governor was tapped as ambassador to the UN following Trump's election win despite supporting Florida Sen. Marco Rubio in her state's all-important 2016 presidential primary and later backing Texas Sen. Ted Cruz.
