Irans Defense Ministry develops imaging system
Tasnim Irans Defense Ministry on Wednesday unveiled a homegrown dual-energy imaging system for civilian application, particularly at customs.

In a ceremony in the city of Saveh, 140 kilometers southwest of Tehran, Deputy Defense Minister General Qassem Taqizadeh unveiled the homegrown system, saying the overflow of military technologies has assisted in the fight against contraband smuggling and in transportation control.

Pointing to the advanced features of the mobile imaging system, the general said it can scan 120 vehicles an hour using dual energy source.

He said only six countries have the technical know-how to manufacture such dual-energy imaging systems.

The new device, designed and manufactured by the Defense Ministry experts, would help the customs office handle the scanning operation mora accurately.

In April 2017, Iran unveiled an advanced domestically made inspection system for finding contraband in vehicles crossing the countrys borders.

The system, manufactured by Iran Electronics Industries and the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Ground Force, assists in inspecting vehicles crossing the borders and scanning cargo containers at ports of entry and in sensitive locations.
