German court approves extradition of Iranian diplomat over bomb 'Plot'



Sputnik - Iranian diplomat Assadollah Assadi, who is believed to be an intelligence agent, ordered a couple to attack the rally and had given them the explosives at a June meeting in Luxembourg.




Iranian diplomat Assadollah Assadi, linked toan alleged bomb plot againstan Iranian opposition rally, will be extradited fromGermany according tothe court's ruling.
"The wanted man cannot cite diplomatic immunity because he was ona several day holiday trip outsidehis host state Austria and not traveling betweenhis host country and the state that dispatched him," the superior regional court inBamberg said ina statement.


Assadi was detained inJuly nearthe German city ofAschaffenburg ona European warrant aftera couple ofpeople ofIranian origin were arrested inBelgium and authorities reported finding powerful explosives intheir car.

The diplomat was charged withconspiracy tocommit murder and being a foreign agent.

Belgian authorities have accused Assadi ofbeing part ofan alleged plot aimed atreportedly setting offexplosives ata huge annual rally ofthe Mujahedeen-e-Khalq group, or MEK, inneighboring France.

Six people linked tothe case were seized legally inBelgium, France and Germany, two ofwhom were later released.
