Iran VP stresses national unity against foreign pressures

IRNA - Iran's vice president for women and family affairs on Tuesday underlined unity between people and government in the face of foreign economic war imposed on the country.

The US' unilateral withdrawal from the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) created a difficult situation for Iran, Masoumeh Ebtekar added.

She noted that the people and government will bypass the pressures and sanctions by consolidating their solidarity.

The official expressed the hope that the country would make progress forward reaching its goals despite foreign sanctions.

US President Donald Trump has mounted pressure on Iran and on May 8 announced that Washington would withdraw from Iran's nuclear deal and re-impose nuclear-related sanctions on the country.

This is while most world powers, including Russia, China, and the European Union, have repeatedly stressed that keeping the deal is in the interest of the world peace and security.
