Press TV - Yemeni army forces, supported by allied fighters from Popular Committees, have fired a domestically-manufactured ballistic missile at a military base in Saudi Arabias southwestern border region of Najran in retaliation for the Saudiregimes military campaign against their crisis-ridden homeland.
A military source, speaking on condition of anonymity, told Yemens Arabic-language al-Masirah television network that the short-range Badr-1missile struck Mostahadeth base in the western sector of the region, located 844kilometers(524 miles) south of the capital Riyadh, on Monday.
The source added that the projectile had hit the designated target with high precision.
Separately, Yemeni forces and their alliesfatally shota Saudi soldier at a military camp on Jabal al-Qais mountainous area in the kingdoms Jizan region.
Moreover, four Saudi-backed Yemeni militiamen loyal to former president Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadiwere killed when Yemeni snipers targeted them in the al-Zobabregion of Yemen's southwestern province ofTa'izz.
Also on Monday, Saudi fighter jets carried out a string of airstrikes against residential buildings and properties in the Shada'a district of the northwestern Yemeni province of Saada, leaving substantial damage behind. There were no immediate reports about possible casualties.
Some15,000 Yemenishave beenkilledand thousands more injured since the onset of the Saudi-led aggression onYemenin March 2015.
The United Nations says a record 22.2 million Yemenis are in need of food aid, including 8.4 million threatened by severe hunger.
A high-ranking UN aid official has warned against the catastrophic living conditions in Yemen, stating there is a growing risk of famine and cholera there.
The conflict has escalated since November, driving an estimated 100,000 people from their homes,John Ging, UN director of aid operations, told the UN Security Council on February 27.
