SHANA -- Iran has modified Jetty 5 of Chabahar Port so that it can berth gasoil carriers of up to 50 million liters of capacity. The first such tanker has just called at the port.
Mostafa Nakhaei, the managing director of the National Chabahar Oil Products Distribution Company, said, In line with the Supreme Leaders instructions regarding the economy of resilience, as well as promoting the ports operational capacity, the first tanker with 50 million liters of gasoil storage capacity has been berthed at Jetty 5 of Bandar Martyr Beheshti of Chabahar Port.
He said the infrastructure required promotion of the unloading system of the port from a 12-inch line at Jetty 2 to two 16-inch lines at Jetty 5 of the port.
The draft of Jetty 2 did not allow large vessels to berth at the port but Jetty 5 enjoys sufficient draft for berthing large vessels, he added.
