Tasnim � In a congratulatory message on the National Day of Singapore, the president of the Islamic Republic of Iran hoped for growing interaction between the two nations.





President Hassan Rouhani on Thursday sent a message to his Singaporean counterpart Halimah Yacob to congratulate the Southeast Asian country on its National Day.

Rouhani also hoped that Iran and Singapore would promote cooperation to fulfill the interests of the two nations in various fields.

Singapore celebrates the National Day on August 9 in commemoration of its independence from Malaysia in 1965.

Yacob became Singapore�s first female president after a walkover election in 2017.

She is also Singapore's first president from the Muslim Malay minority in 47 years since the late Yusof Ishak, who governed in the mid-1960s.
