MNA � Head of Iranian Fisheries Organization Hassan Salehi said that US new sanctions on Iran will not have any effect on the production an export of fisheries� products.







It is predicted that fish and shrimp farming in sea will increase up by 10 percent at large in sanctions period, he maintained.

Maintaining the current fishing trend, rebuilding reserves to restore reserves, fishing economically and maintaining employment are of the main policies of the Iranian Fisheries Organization in the field of fishing in the Persian Gulf and Caspian Sea, Salehi observed.

Turning to the fish productions using cage farming, he said, �given the suitable infrastructures provided for fish farming at sea, it is predicted that 25,000-30,000 tons of fish will be produced using case farming, he emphasized.

Planning is underway for increasing at least 10 percent in export of fisheries, he said, adding, �about 124,000 tons of various types of fisheries, valued at more than $500 million, were exported from the country in the last year (ended March 20, 2018).�

Elsewhere in his remarks, the deputy Ministry of Agriculture pointed to the effect of sanctions in the field of export and production of fisheries and said, �we have not any problem for exporting fisheries� products to safe target markets such as Eurasia, southeast Asia and Middle East region.�

Given the above issue, Iranian Fisheries Organization is exploring new target markets for exporting fish products, he reiterated.
