SHANA - The volume of gas distributed by the National Iranian Gas Transmission Company (NIGTC) rose by 9 percent in the first two months of current Iranian calendar year which began on March 21 compared with the same period last year.
Speaking to Shana, NIGTC director Saeid Tavakili said in the months of Farvardin and Ordibehesht (the first two months of the Iranian calendar year), the company transmitted 37.34 bcm of gas through the national gas distribution network which was 9.2 percent higher than the transmitted volume during the same period last year.
He said the average daily gas flow rate in the preceding calendar year was 730 million and 700 thousand cubic meters per day, adding that the gas transmission capacity of the country with the use of the national network stood at 800 million cubic meters per day, which amounts to 280 billion cubic meters per year.
Last year, the National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC) received 212 bcm of natural gas from the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC) of which 203 bcm was processed and transmitted to consumers and the rest was consumed as feedstock for petrochemical plants.
