SPGC accounts for 70% of Iran gas output: CEO

SHANA - The CEO of South Pars Gas Complex (SPGC) said the complex produced 70 percent of Iran's total natural gas output.

Enjoying several gas refineries and operating the supergiant South Pars Gas Field in Persian Gulf waters, SPGC plays a crucial role in the country's gas production, Hadi Hashemizadeh Farhang said.

Only the 4th refinery of the complex supplied 8.9 million barrels of gas condensate in the first quarter of the current Iranian calendar year which began on March 21, said Behzad Salari, the facility's director, according to the National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC) website.

Furthermore, the first refinery of SPGC also supplied 2.687 mcm of natural gas during the same period which was completely exported, Mehrdad Abdi, the plant's director, said.

Moreover, the facility supplied 2.718 million barrels of gas condensate for export markets.

Iran is completing a major gas condensate refinery project which will consume almost all of the country's gas condensate (ultra light crude oil).

Currently, South Korea is the country's biggest buyer of gas condensate.
