Light quake jolts W Iran

IRNA - An earthquake measuring 4.2 on the Richter scale shook Tazeh Abad, western Province of Kermanshah, western Iran, on Monday.

According to the Seismological Center of the Geophysics Institute of Tehran University, the tremor occurred at 10:03 hours local time (05:33 GMT).

The epicenter of the quake was registered at 16 km of Tazeh Abad in the depth of seven km.

No report on possible damage to life or properties has been released yet.

Iran sits on major fault lines and is prone to near-daily earthquakes. Also on Sunday, a 4.6-Richter quake rattled the area, as the result which some buildings were damaged.

Kermanshah has been jolted by several earthquakes since November 12, 2017, when a 7.3-magnitude earthquake hit the province's Ezgeleh region killing at least 620 people and injuring over 12,000.
