Iran, Pakistan discuss military cooperation
Tasnim Senior commanders from Pakistan and Iran met in Tehran for talks on closer military cooperation between the two neighbors and joint efforts to ensure security along the common border.

In the Friday meeting, Commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps Ground Force Brigadier General Mohammad Pakpour and Chief of General Staff of Pakistan Lieutenant General Bilal Akbar explored avenues for the enhancement of the military and security cooperation between the two sides.

They also emphasized the need for close coordination in combatting terrorist groups along the common border and ensuring the security of residents in the border regions.

The two commanders also called for the expansion of security and intelligence partnership between the Iranian and Pakistani military forces.

In April, Iranian Defense Minister Brigadier General Amir Hatami called for the enhancement of military cooperation with Pakistan in a meeting with his Pakistani counterpart in Moscow, saying close interaction between the two neighbors would contribute to regional peace and stability.
