Principlist candidate Gholam-Ali Haddad-Adel says he sees no reason to step aside in favor of other candidates ahead of the June 14 vote.
He told a press conference on Sunday that the principlist Coalition of Three, to which Haddad-Adel is a member, can win the presidential race despite differences.

Haddad-Adel, a former Majlis speaker, noted that the differences among the Coalition's members are not fundamental.

He said the two other members of the Coalition -- Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf and Ali Akbar Velayati -- will see their campaigns through, unless something extraordinary happens that convinces them to pick one member as the frontrunner.

Nearly 50.5 million Iranians are eligible to vote in the upcoming presidential election, with more than 1.6 million first-time voters.

Haddad-Adel, Supreme National Security Council Secretary Saeed Jalili, Expediency Council Secretary Mohsen Rezaei, President of the Strategic Research Center of the Expediency Council Hassan Rohani, former First Vice President Mohammad-Reza Aref, Tehran Mayor Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf, former Telecommunications Minister Mohammad Gharazi, and former Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Velayati are competing in the presidential race.
