MNA Hossein Jaberi Ansari, senior aide to Iranian foreign minister, has headed a delegation to Geneva Monday morning to take part in international peace talks on Syria.
The senior Iranian negotiator in Syrian peace talks will hold bilateral talks on Monday evening with counterparts from the two other guarantor states -Russia and Turkey -as well as the UNs Syria envoy, Staffan de Mistura.
Despite several rounds of talks in Geneva since 2012 that ended in stalemate, the UN envoy told reporters on Sunday that we are seeing movement and we will keep seeking more of it.
While stressing that he does not expect any major breakthrough, de Mistura voiced confidence that progress is possible and there is something moving in that direction.
A quadrilateral meeting of the senior negotiators of the three guarantor states of ceasefire in Syria with the UN envoy will take place on Tuesday morning.
The talks in Geneva are aimed at finding ways to facilities the setting up of the Syrian Constitutional Committee, the agreement on which was reached on January 30 at the Syrian National Dialogue Congress in Sochi. The committee will draft proposals for Syrias new constitution in cooperation with De Mistura.
