Iran official calls for Tehran-Islamabad security cooperation

IRNA A top Iranian security official called here Thursday for further security cooperation between Tehran and Islamabad in order to completely halt anti-regional activities of terrorists who are affiliated to certain intelligence agencies.

'We should not let any third country leave negative impact on our friendly bilateral relations,' Ali Shamkhani, Secretary of Supreme National Security Council, said in a meeting held in this Russian city with Nasser Khan Janjua, National Security Adviser of Prime Minister of Pakistan.

During the talks held on the sidelines of the top level security meeting attended by representatives of all five continents, Shamkhani called for making use of common economic opportunities, particularly in Iran's Chabahar Port and Pakistan's Gwadar port.

Shamkhani said Iran and Pakistan have important responsibilities towards the future of Islamic Ummah.

Describing the Dec 2017 decision made by the US President Donald Trump to move American Embassy from Tel Aviv to Holy Quds as illegal, the Iranian official said Tehran and Islamabad should fulfill their religious duties in defending the cause of the oppressed Palestinians.

He further called on the Islamic countries to stand against the massacre of Yemeni civilians by Saudi Arabia.

About crisis in Yemen, Shamkhani said Yemeni-Yemeni talks are the only way to end war and conflicts there and establish stability and security.

Saudi Arabia with the help of nine other Arab countries, except Oman, has been mounting massive attacks on Yemen since March 26, 2015, to bring back to power the deposed Yemeni president Abdrabbuh Mansour Hadi and prevent the Yemeni revolutionary forces from taking power.
