Shamkhani arrives in Russian port city of Sochi

MNA Rear Admiral Ali Shamkhani, the Secretary of Irans SNSC arrived in Sochi of Russia where he is slated to attend the 9th International Meeting of High Representatives for Security Issues.


To take part in the 9th International Meeting of High Representatives for Security Issues, Rear Admiral Ali Shamkhani, the Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council (SNSC), arrived in Russian port city of Sochi on Tuesday.

The conference will kick off on Wednesday and will come to an end on Thursday.

Promoting dialogue and close cooperation with influential and internationally-acting countries in order to reduce security risks and crises is felt necessary more than ever, said Mr. Shamkhani upon his arrival at the airport in Sochi among the reporters. He said that there are capacities and potentials that could be used to manage international crises, especially replacing the use of hard tools with dialogue and diplomacy.

The secretary of the Supreme National Security Council of Iran, denouncing the growing arms race leading west in the West Asian region, added:

Some countries in the region, are getting far away from rational approaches, and are using their national capital for killing their neighbors and creating hatred and violence while they are living in the illusions of reaching armed security, he said condemning the growing arms race in the Middle East with westerners manipulations.

Shamkhani will deliver a speech about security situation of the Middle East and its political and economic developments as well as Iran's experiences and strategies in countering security issues and terrorist threats.

The Iranian official will also hold bilateral and multilateral talks with senior officials from countries participating in the conference.

The annual meeting is held in Russia at the initiative of Russia's Security Council.

The agenda of this year's conference includes international security issues, challenges fighting terrorism, international information security and spread of illicit drugs.
