IRNA - An earthquake measuring 4.7 on the Richter scale shook Khonj in southwestern province of Fars on Sunday.
According to a report by seismography center affiliated to Tehran University's Geophysics Institute, the tremor occurred at 5:42 hours local time (1:12 hours GMT) with its epicenter being registered at 53.49 degrees longitude and 27.81 degrees latitude and at the depth of 12 km underground.
No casualties or damage to property have been reported.
Iran sits on several major seismological fault lines, making it one of the world's most quake-prone countries.
