Iran, Norway call for joint committees to expand coop.

MNA Irans deputy FM Araghchi and Norwegian deputy minister of trade have called for the formation of joint committees to expand cooperation and reach proper banking mechanisms.

DuringtheFriday meeting, Araghchi noted the long history of cooperation and relations between Iran and Norway, particularly in the fields of oil, gas and fisheries, and underlined the need for formation of bilateral committees to expand cooperation and reach proper banking and financial mechanisms in areas of mutual interest.

The Norwegian official, for his part, noted Norways expertise and financial and technical capabilities and capacities for business and investment in Iran.

Norwegian companies are keen on having a presence and expanding it in Irans big market, and many of them have already taken steps to reopen their offices in Tehran, Angelvik added.

He further highlighted the need to reach solutions for easing up banking and financial transactions, voicing Norways resolve to continue the development of relations with the Islamic Republic.

Araghchiarrived in Norways capital Osloon Thursdayat the official invitation ofhisNorwegiancounterpartAudun Halvorsento take part in the eighth round of political talks between the two countries.

During his stay inOslo, the Iranian diplomatalso held talks with a number of Norwegian officials includingNorwegian Foreign Minister MarieEriksenSoreid.

He also met a group of Norwegian researchers and scientists.
